Smaller islands like Koh Yung, Koh Maipai, Koh Poda

Most of the 130 islands around Krabi are small with no infrastructure or even big rocks in the sea. The bays and beaches are also small, but though worthwile a visit. They can be reached by private speedboats or longtail boats. Snorkeling, swimming or relaxing on the beach can be fun there.

Koh Poda
Koh Poda lays 8 km south of Aonang and can be seen from the beaches of Krabi. Its white sandy beach shimmers in the sun during low tide. It is good for a daytrip for snorkeling and swimming. The water is crystal clear and warm.

Koh Kai
A bit more south you can reach Koh Kai (Chicken island). The island has steep cliffs, but a very nice small bay in the south with a small sandy beach, good for swimming and snorkeling. The name ‘chicken’ should come from the shape of the island.

Koh Maipai (Bamboo island)
Koh Maipai is a small island north of the northern tip of Koh Phi Phi. The very clear water and the bright white beach attracts many daytrip visitors from Phi Phi island. Since there are no Palm trees or other bigger trees, shady places are rare and it can be very hot.

Koh Yung
Koh Yung is nearby Koh Maipai. It is a rocky island with no beach but good snorkeling spots.

Koh Phi Phi Leh
This rocky island south of Koh Phi Phi Don has high and steep cliffs and seems to be inaccessible from the distance. But it hides two very nice bays, the one of them became world famous by the movie ‘the Beach’. The Maya Bay has a white sandy beach, crystal clear blue and low waters and surrounding cliffs, that make the scenery unreal and very beautiful. There is a small entrance to the bay, which is overcrowded by visitors during peak season.

Koh Hong
Koh Hong is part of the chain of islands between Krabi and Koh Yao, that makes an amazing scenery from both sides of it. A short boat trip leads into the rocky world of small bays and a wonderful small sandy beach. It’s a very nice place for swimming, snorkeling and kajaking.

Koh Bubu (Boo Boo)
This is a very small island east of Koh Lanta. It is the only small island among many other small islands there with a resort (Koh Boo Boo Resort). So it is good not only for a daytrip.
